Small Business On The Net
More than a decade after the internet become commonplace, small companies are still not making much use of it.
The MYOB Australian Small Business Survey shows that 60% of small business do not have a website. Of those that do, a large majority 68% do not use it to sell goods or services.
“Small business owners are missing valuable opportunities to use the web to promote their business and their customer base” MYOB chief executive Tim Reed says. The web is a critical information and communication platform, an important tool for small business.. small business owners should be jumping at the cost-effective and scalable opportunities the web offers.
Small business can use the internet for business advice and tools, their own website, e-commerce including selling online and placing and tracking orders, managing customer relationship, and e-marketing through bolgs and forums.
The research shows that small business owners are big users of the web – but more for personal use: more than 60 per cent visit 5 or more websites for personal use a week, far more than 46 per cent of business owners who visit between one and four sites for business use.
